Room Descriptions
The Mill House Inn features 12 guest rooms (five of which are suites), and each different from the others.
Each guest room or suite features its own private attached bath, and is fitted with luxury linens, fluffy cotton towels, and custom bath products, in addition to other amenities such guest-controlled heat and air conditioning, in-room telephone with local and long distance calling, television with VCR and wireless internet access.
The Mill House Inn does not permit smoking in any guest rooms. In addition, in keeping with New York State regulations, no smoking is permitted at the Mill House Inn in any common areas inside the Inn building.
Learn More
There is a designated smoking area outside the Inn, in the parking lot and in the "smokers' lounge," the gazebo immediately outside the front entrance.
For the health and safety of all our guests and staff, we do not allow smoking in the pool area, on the deck off the dining room, or otherwise on the Inn grounds, except in the gazebo and parking lot. Although our notorious punishment for guest smoking in the building - "Your car will be crushed and melted!" - is tongue-in-cheek, we charge guests who violate our no-smoking policy with an additional night's room rate to defray the cost of removing the smoking odor from the room or suite affected.

Room #1
Formerly known as the "Strawberry Room," Room #1 has been redecorated recently. The new decorating theme of this room is country comfort with light green bedspread and harvest basket wall covering. Room #1 has a window on one wall which opens to the front of the Inn and another which opens to the grove of trees to the west, allowing a comfortable breeze of fresh air to pass through this room on warm summer nights. Room #1 is one of our "standard" rooms, and demonstrates why our "standards" are higher at the Mill House Inn (guests are permitted to roll their eyes at this). Room #1 is furnished with a queen-sized bed, nightstands, a desk and chair, and a chest of drawers, along with a small hanging rod for your hanging clothes.
Room #2
Room #2 is a deluxe room, containing both a queen sized bed and a twin bed along with a small desk and chair, a nightstand and chest of drawers and small hanging rod for your hanging clothes. Up to three people sleep comfortably in Room #2. Guests have told us that the décor in Room #2 is reminiscent of inns in the European country hills, with green-accented French country furniture and gentle rose carpet. The window in Room #2 overlooks the pastoral grove of trees to the west of the Inn, which enhances its quiet country ambience.
Room #3
Room #3, located on the west side of the Inn, overlooking a peaceful grove of trees, is a favorite of many of our guests and is frequently specifically requested by returning guests year after year. This room is known as our "White Wicker" room because the furniture includes a loveseat and nightstands of white wicker, along with a white decorative headboard on the bed, a chest of drawers and small hanging rod for hanging clothes. The wall coverings have a floral bouquet design. Due to its bight and sunny décor, Room #3 is very frequently booked well ahead for the late spring and summer seasons. Although slightly larger than some of our standard rooms, Room #3 is a standard room which sleeps two in its queen sized bed.
Room #4
Room #4 is another of our deluxe rooms, containing both a queen sized bed and a twin bed along with nightstands, a chest of drawers and a small hanging rod for your hanging clothes. Up to three people sleep comfortably in Room #4. Perhaps because Room #4 is located in the middle of the west side of the Inn and overlooks the grove of trees to the west, or maybe because of the quality bedding, most every guest staying in Room #4 reports to us a very comfortable night's sleep. The decorating theme of Room #4 recalls European Alpine country, with floral basket print wallpaper and forest green accents.
Suite #5
Suite #5, known to many of our guests over the years as the "Gable Suite," is a two-room suite with a wood-burning fireplace. The main sleeping room in Suite #5 has a window overlooking the grove of trees to the west of the Inn, and the sitting room has windows overlooking the grove and others providing a view to the rear grounds and swimming pool to the north. The main sleeping room in Suite #5 features a queen-size "sleigh bed," nightstands, an upholstered chair, a chest of drawers and a small hanging rod for hanging clothes. A door which closes for privacy separates the main sleeping room in Suite #5 from the sitting room, which contains a desk and chair, a loveseat, upholstered chair and coffee table, along with the television and VCR. There is also a small hanging rod for hanging clothes in the sitting room, which contains a small refrigerator. Up to two roll-in beds can be added in the sitting room to accommodate additional guests, and therefore, Suite #5 can comfortably fit up to four guests in all. Sturdy wood furniture and the blue and green color theme of the sitting room lend a relaxing air to Suite #5 which keeps many guests coming back year after year.
Room #6
Room #6, the "Oak Room," is a standard room overlooking the brook to the east of Inn, providing an opportunity for guests to enjoy both fresh air and the relaxing sounds of rushing water on summer evenings when guests choose to open the window in this room. Room #6 contains oak furnishings, including a queen-size bed, nightstands, desk and chair, chest of drawers and small hanging rod for hanging clothes. The carpet in Room #6 was replaced prior to our last summer season. The classic wood furniture and deep red colors of Room #6 remind many of our guests of hotels and Inns in which they have stayed in the mountainous areas of Europe. Many guests have told us that Room #6 is perfect for a romantic weekend or for a fun ski getaway for just about any couple.
Room #7
Sometimes known as the "Alpine Room" because of its décor and furnishings, Room #7 is a standard room with a queen sized bed, nightstands, desk and chair, chest of drawers and small hanging rod for hanging clothes. The carpet in this room was replaced prior to the 2005 summer season. Room #7 overlooks the brook to the east of the Inn, and many guests tell us about relaxing nights with the window open to the air and the sounds of the brook. Quiet and cozy, Room #7 will comfortably accommodate just about any couple looking for their private and comfortable getaway.
Room #8
Our own "Colonial Room," so designated because of the colonial-style furnishings, Room #8 is a standard room, containing a queen sized bed, nightstands, desk and chair, chest of drawers and small hanging rod for hanging clothes. The carpet in Room #8 was replaced prior to the 2005 summer season. Room #8 faces the east "brook side" of the Inn, and has a window which opens to the east for morning light. American country décor is featured in Room #8, including its headboard with pineapple capitals, country quilt bed cover and early American style furnishings. A cozy setting for a romantic night for two awaits you in our Colonial Room #8.
Suite #9
Since 1982, guests have been entertained to learn that our Suite #9 has been known as the "Lucile Ball Suite" because it's the suite in which "the very and only Lucille Ball" (her description) actually stayed at the Inn. Look under the glass top on the chest of drawers, and you will see the page of the guest register where Lucy signed her name "gratefully for one of the most charming and gracious Inns left to us." The main sleeping room in Suite #9 has a queen sized bed, nightstand, desk and chair, a chest of drawers and a small hanging rod for hanging clothes. The window in the main sleeping room in Suite #9 overlooks the brook to the east of the Inn. The sitting room in this suite contains a couch, coffee table, chest of drawers and television with VCR, along with another small hanging rod for hanging clothes. One window in the sitting room faces the front of the Inn and another faces the brook to the east. The couch in the sitting room has a queen-size pull out sofa bed, so up to four guests can comfortably stay overnight in the Lucille Ball Suite. Families and couples who like to have a little more space enjoy staying in Suite #9 because of its relaxing and comfortable feel. The décor in Suite #9 is eclectic Americana, and appeals to most everyone.
Suite #10
Perhaps the quietest and most romantic accommodations at the Mill House Inn are found in our Suite #10, the "Loft Suite." The sitting room in Suite #10 is located on the second floor of the Inn, and up a few steps. Here, the fireplace and a loveseat nestled in a cozy nook await you for romantic nights. A small hanging rod for hanging clothes and the deluxe bath of Suite #10 are also located on this first level. Up a flight of stairs located within Suite #10 are a queen-size bed with nightstands, small chest of drawers and television with VCR. Because the loft in Suite #10 is the only guest room on that level (above the guest rooms on the second floor of the Inn), it is remarkably private and quiet, perfect for a couple's romantic getaway. The sitting room in Suite #10 overlooks our pool and rear grounds, and the sleeping loft has a window overlooking the pool and rear grounds and windows with a view to the brook to the east of the Inn. The carpeting on the first floor in Suite #10 was replaced in the winter 2005 season. Due to the popularity of Suite #10, we ask that guests request this room well in advance, to better assure its availability by special request.
Suite #11
Suite #11, the Mill House Inn's "Garden Suite" is located on the first floor of the Inn, and overlooks the bucolic grove of trees to the west of the Inn. The décor of the Garden Suite, with garden-themed wallpaper and bed coverings, also picks up on a natural theme. Entry to the Garden Suite is made through a short hallway from the main common room to the Garden Suite's sitting room. The sitting room for this Suite contains a pair of twin-size trundle beds (one folds down and can be stored under the other) and a table with lamp. When the second bed is stored in this way, the sitting room is arranged as though it contained only a "day bed." Through a short hallway from this sitting room, the main sleeping room in Suite #11 is generously appointed with a queen-size bed, nightstands, chest of drawers, full-size closet for hanging clothes, and a bench and chair. A large mirror hangs in the main sleeping room, over the chest of drawers. The bath in Suite #11 is accessed through the main sleeping room. The carpet in this suite was replaced prior to the summer 2005 season. Because it is generously sized and is located on the first floor of the Inn, guests who have some difficulty with mobility or who just like to have some extra space frequently will specifically request the Garden Suite.
Suite #12
A small entryway is just inside the door from the outside, and is perfectly arranged for overnight storage of ski equipment or summer sports gear, such as for use at the swimming pool, located just to the rear of Suite #12.
The entryway opens into the main sleeping room, which contains the king-size bed, a nightstand, chest of drawers and full-size closet for hanging clothes. The window in the main sleeping room looks out to the pastoral grove of trees to the west of the Inn. To the left and down two steps just inside the entry door is the living room for Suite #12, which contains a couch and coffee table, the wood-burning fireplace, the television and VCR, and the refrigerator. The windows in the living room in Suite #12 provide a view to the rear grounds and swimming pool.
Learn More
Many of our guests prefer Suite #12 to any other room or Suite at the Inn, particularly for an extended stay, because of its many special comforts and the additional room only the largest suite at the Inn can provide. Suite #12 is frequently booked well in advance, and guests who wish to stay in this suite especially are cautioned to make reservations as early as possible, to best assure its availability.
The aptly named "King Suite" is also known as Suite #12. The largest and best-appointed suite at the Mill House Inn, Suite #12 has a wood-burning fireplace in the living room, a king-size bed in the main sleeping room and is the only room or suite in the Inn with a bathtub in its bath, which is the largest in the Inn. The King Suite has its own separate entrance on the west side of the Inn, and no entry to this Suite can be made directly from the common rooms of the Inn.
